What's wrong with yours?

Dogs chew, soles wear through, leather cracks. These come through our door every week, and every one of them can be fixed.

What we fix

Bring in anything leather. If it can be saved, we'll tell you how. If it can't, we'll tell you that too.

Every repair starts with a cut.

When you drop something off, we cut your ticket in two. You keep one half, we keep the other. When the halves meet again, your shoes go home.

Every job is different, so we look first and price second. You'll know the cost and the pickup day before you leave.

How it works

No appointments and no forms. Just a counter, a ticket and someone who knows leather.

Four steps, one ticket.

Walk in

Bring the shoes, boots or bag to the counter on Center Street. No booking needed.

We cut your ticket

We look it over, quote it, and cut a numbered ticket in two. You keep one half.

We fix it

Your repair goes on the bench with our half pinned to it, so nothing gets mixed up.

The halves meet

Come back with your half. When the cut lines up, it's yours again.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in during opening hours and we'll look at it while you're there.

How long will it take?

It depends on the job. Small fixes can sometimes be done while you wait. For bigger work, we'll give you a pickup day when we cut your ticket.

How much will it cost?

We quote every job at the counter before any work starts. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll say so.

What if I lose my half?

Come in anyway. Your name is written on our half, so we can find your repair.

Do you fix more than shoes?

Yes. Bags, jackets, belts and most other leather goods, plus zippers on just about anything.

Our story

An Ottawa cobbler since 1973. The tools have changed a little. The way we work hasn't.

Made to be mended.

Good leather is built to be repaired. A welted boot can be resoled again and again, and a scuffed bag can be brought back with the right colour. That's the work we've done on Center Street for five decades.

Today Roberto runs the bench. Ask for him by name. Plenty of people do.

Leather art

Alongside repairs, we make custom leather pieces, cut and stitched by hand in the shop. Bring an idea, a sketch or a broken favourite you want remade.
